Thanks, state Rep. May, for helping to stop bill
I want to thank state Rep. Karen May, D-58th, for working hard to stop the passage of a bill that would have permitted the incineration of tires under the guise of renewable energy. Fortunately, the Illinois Senate used good sense in killing the bill.
Not only is tire incineration not renewable energy, it discharges deadly toxins into our environment. It would cannibalize the funds earmarked to incent development of true clean, renewable energy such as solar, wind and geothermal.
Rep. May has done a tremendous job of supporting the creation of new jobs while protecting our environment through green initiatives focusing on renewable energy in particular. In fact, she recently was named chair of the Illinois House Committee on Renewable Energy.
Rep. May's passion and dedication to our environment will save our planet while creating new jobs -- a win-win situation for the citizens of Illinois!
We urge other state legislators, Illinois, county and municipal officials to support proper economic and environmental initiatives to Energize Illinois while conserving clean air and water for our citizens.
